House Democrats Demand Ryan Take Action on Election Security

A group of 21 House Democrats are asking Speaker Paul Ryan to take immediate steps to protect future elections from foreign interference.... "When a sovereign nation attempts to meddle in our elections, it is an attack on our country," the group said today in a letter to Ryan.... The group — inclding Democracy Reform Task Force Chair John Sarbanes and composed of lawmakers from 18 of the 21 states the Homeland Security Department has disclosed were targeted during the last year's election — request a briefing from DHS and the FBI about the cyberattacks.... They also urge Ryan to direct all relevant House committees to investigate the cyberattacks and back bipartisan legislation to bolster the security of state election systems.
